Duck Tape Racing Wins Easter Saturday

The Duck Tape Turismo emerged victorious at the Easter Saturday Night Thrill Show, capturing the S/SS Combo title at Union County Dragway in Union, SC, in front of a sizable and appreciative crowd. The final round came down to the two front wheel drive cars in the field, Michael Beard's Duck Tape-backed FF/SA Plymouth Turismo and Harry Morgan's appropriately named "Underdog" HF/SA Ford Escort, as they outlasted the faster Stockers and much faster Super Stockers. After nearly identical reaction times, Beard reeled in Morgan's Escort to take the win by .011 seconds with a pedaling 9.943 (9.90 dial-in) over an 11.475 (11.42). (We'll have to check with some drag racing historians to see if two FWD Stockers have ever run in the finals before!) The win was Beard's second of the season in three final round appearances.

In addition to the spectators at the track, "Live" race coverage and photos on ClassRacer.com received over 2,000 views from internet fans, and photos were included in an event photo gallery courtesy of New Day Photography. Sponsors also received nearly 7 hrs of round-trip on-the-road "rolling billboard" advertising to and from the race track, with the car hauled on the open trailer.

This weekend, Saturday April 30, the Duck Tape Turismo returns to Piedmont Dragway (Greensboro, NC market) for the IHRA Summit Pro-Am Tour.

Beard thanked his sponsors for their support, including Duck Tape brand duct tape, Mickey Thompson Tires, CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Bearden Oil - Sunoco Race Fuels, Bradley Auto Parts, K&N Filters, Southland Speed, FINISHED Ultimate Performance Metal Finishing, Abruzzi Racing Transmissions and Converters, Ross Pistons, Sloan Racing Engines, Macy Motorsports, Billy Nees Race Cars, Stephen Beard, Matt Zapp, Terry Knott, and his wife Jill.
