Duck Tape Racing Scores 2nd Florida Final

Feb. 7, 2010
Immokalee, Fla. - Immokalee Regional Raceway, in Immokalee, Fla., hosted the second stop on the IHRA tour this season, featuring a double-header Summit Pro-Am Tour event and a Sportsman Nationals event. Michael Beard piloted the Duck Tape Volare to his second final round in as many weeks in Sunday's Sportsman National event, which also counted for Pro-Am points.

In the final round, Beard gave the head start to defending Division Champion Myron Piatek, who earned the Ironman and the second Tournament of Champions qualifying spot with a .002-initiated 7.258 on a 7.23 dial-in from his "Locomotion" '75 Dart Sport. Beard was in the game with an .023 reaction time, but broke out by just .006 seconds with a 6.934 (6.94).

Although Beard is already qualifed for the 2010 Tournament of Champions, the chase for the IHRA Division 2 Stock title has just begun. With two out of eight available points claims in the books, Beard ranks 3rd with 150 points, just behind Piatek and Saturday winner BJ Bianchi, who are tied at 163.
